Close-By Care for a Close-Knit Neighborhood
Memorial Thicket is a small subdivision of single-family homes set among native live oaks and pines. The Landar Corporation, Bob Lanier's development company, created it with Harry W. Reed. The first house, on Old Stone Trail, was finished in 1979, and most of the early homes followed by 1983.
The layout is unusual. All of the streets are public, yet the neighborhood has a single entrance on Plainwood Dr with 24-hour guard service. Terry Hershey Park forms its southern edge, and the original bed of Buffalo Bayou, left behind when the channel was straightened in 1946, still curves behind homes on Old Stone Trail and Herdsman Dr.
That old stream bed even shapes school lines. Most of Memorial Thicket is in Houston ISD, but a few homes at the south end of Plainwood Dr and on Herdsman Dr fall in Katy ISD, because the district boundary still follows the former channel.
Neighbors here know one another. The homeowners association runs a newsletter, a Yard of the Month program and a social association. Marywood is a neighbor along the park's north side, and the subdivision is inside the City of Houston and Harris County. Its homeowners association is listed as a civic club in the City's Super Neighborhood 16.
Gum Health and Aging Restorations in Memorial Thicket Homes
Many households in Memorial Thicket have been here since the early 1980s. Dental work from those years, from silver fillings to early crowns, is now decades old. Gum health tends to become the bigger question with time, because periodontitis can progress quietly before teeth feel loose.
Treatment starts with a clear diagnosis. If gum pockets have deepened, scaling and root planing removes buildup below the gumline, and Dr. Omranian performs it with local anesthesia or sedation options. Periodontal maintenance visits then keep the results stable.
Aging fillings often call for something sturdier but smaller than a crown. Porcelain inlays and onlays rebuild part of a tooth in tooth-colored ceramic, and CEREC lets the office make many of them in one visit.
Some residents simply want their smile to look as fresh as the neighborhood's trees and yards. Whitening and veneers can brighten teeth that have darkened over the decades, and both start with a short cosmetic conversation at your next checkup.
What a Dentist Near Memorial Thicket Can Do for You
Periodontics
Gingivitis and periodontitis are diagnosed and treated here with non-surgical care first: scaling and root planing, antibiotic therapy and laser therapy. Long-term periodontal maintenance protects the result.
Same-Day Treatment
CEREC crowns, veneers, inlays and onlays can be designed, milled and placed in a single appointment. For Memorial Thicket patients replacing several old restorations, fewer trips add up.
Root Canal Therapy
When infection reaches the inside of a tooth, root canal therapy clears it and saves the natural tooth. Digital imaging and rotary instruments guide the work, and a crown follows if the tooth needs protection.
Cosmetic Dentistry
Teeth whitening, bonding, veneers and full smile makeovers are planned at a cosmetic consultation. Options range from a single brighter tooth to a complete refresh.
For a first visit, set aside about 90 to 120 minutes. Filling in the history forms online at least 48 hours ahead keeps that time for the exam itself, which screens for gum disease, oral cancer, sleep apnea, bite issues and cavities along with a check of every existing restoration.
If a tooth breaks or starts to ache between checkups, the team keeps time open each day for urgent problems. We offer same-day emergency appointments Tuesday through Friday; the office is closed Monday and weekends.
Meet Dr. Omranian and Our Team
Dr. Laya Omranian, DDS, is a graduate of UCLA's dental program who continues to take courses on new techniques and technology. That ongoing training shows in the lasers, scanners and CEREC system she uses in the office.
Insurance, Membership & Financing
Sun Life Dental PPO and Lincoln Financial Dental PPO are two of the 20 PPO plans we work with, and the team files a predetermination before major treatment so the numbers are clear. For patients paying on their own, in-house payment plans and Sunbit financing, subject to approval, make larger gum or crown treatment easier to schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions
How far is Energy Dental from Memorial Thicket, and how do I get there?
The office is about 2.1 miles from the Plainwood Dr entrance, roughly 4 minutes by car. Take Memorial Dr east, turn right onto N Eldridge Pkwy and continue south across Buffalo Bayou to Brimhurst Dr. Patients looking for a dentist near Memorial Thicket never need the freeway, and the drive has no tolls.
What is scaling and root planing, and will I be numb?
Scaling and root planing is a deep cleaning that removes plaque and tartar from below the gumline and smooths the root surfaces. Yes, the area is numbed with local anesthesia, and sedation options are also available. Dr. Omranian performs the treatment herself, and it is often the first step in controlling gum disease.
How is periodontal maintenance different from a regular cleaning?
Periodontal maintenance is a gum-focused cleaning for patients who have already been treated for gum disease. It goes below the gumline to keep pockets from deepening again, where a regular cleaning mainly cares for healthy gums. Patients without insurance can cover these visits through the Perio VIP plan at $499 a year, which includes three maintenance cleanings.
What are porcelain inlays and onlays?
They are tooth-colored ceramic restorations that rebuild part of a damaged tooth. An inlay fits within the chewing surface, while an onlay also covers one or more cusps. Both keep more natural tooth than a full crown, and with CEREC many can be designed and placed in a single visit.
How do I know if an old filling needs replacing?
An exam and x-rays are the reliable way to tell. Dr. Omranian looks for cracks, gaps at the edges and new decay forming underneath, which can happen without any pain. Sensitivity to cold or a rough edge your tongue keeps finding are also worth mentioning, and a failing filling can often be replaced with tooth-colored material.
