What are dentures?

Dentures are dental restorations that replace some or all of your missing teeth. They’re essentially a series of fake teeth attached to a gum-colored or pink base. They come in various shapes and sizes, so we customize the ideal dentures to suit your requirements. We use the strongest, most durable, and most natural-looking materials for your dentures to ensure optimal aesthetic appearance and functionality. Dr. Laya Omranian takes accurate impressions and measurements of your teeth to produce natural-looking dentures that fit comfortably in your mouth while restoring your ability to speak and chew comfortably.

Your denture options include…

Traditional Dentures

Traditional dentures replace all of the missing teeth on the upper or lower arch or both. They’re a complete row of natural-looking teeth attached to a gum-colored base secured to your gums with mild dental adhesives. When used for the upper arch, the false teeth are attached to a gum-colored base that covers the gums and the roof of the mouth. When used for the lower arch, they’re shaped like horseshoes to make space for the tongue.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are suitable for patients with intermittent tooth loss, i.e., if you’re missing multiple teeth from different parts of your mouth. The false teeth are attached to a gum-colored base, designed to fill up the space left by missing teeth. They’re attached to your natural teeth with metal clasps, and they can be removed at will. Partial dentures are suitable alternatives for dental bridges and dental implants.

Implant-Supported Dentures

Implant-supported dentures refer to full or partial dentures supported on strategically positioned dental implants. A dental implant is a small titanium post attached to the jawbone underneath the socket of the missing tooth. Dr. Laya Omranian attaches a few strategic dental implants, and a full or partial denture is affixed to the implants via small connectors, known as abutments. Implant-supported dentures are extremely stable — they look, feel, and function like natural teeth.

Immediate Dentures

Traditional dentures and implant-supported dentures require several weeks of waiting period after the dental extraction. However, we also provide immediate dentures after your dental extraction, so you can leave the dental clinic with a full set of teeth. Dr. Laya Omranian will take impressions of your teeth before the extraction and prepare the dentures in advance, so they can be fixed in place immediately after the extraction. You never have to go without teeth.

The benefits of dentures:

  • Restore your perfect smile
  • Restore your ability to chew and speak clearly
  • Prevent surrounding teeth from moving out of place (for partial dentures)
  • Prevent the disintegration of the jawbone (for implant-supported dentures)
  • Restore optimal facial structure and balance
  • Minimize the risk of jaw pain and tension
  • Customized according to your specific goals and requirements

The dentures process at Energy Dental

Your denture journey starts with a personalized consultation with our cosmetic and restorative dentists at Energy Dental. Dr. Laya Omranian examines your teeth and oral health, takes accurate measurements, and discusses your goals. We select the ideal set of dentures according to your goals, ensuring optimal fit, cosmetic appearance, and functionality.

After the consultation, we send your dental impressions to our dental laboratory, where your dentures are eventually prepared. In most cases, you’ll have to come back for a second appointment to receive your dentures. During your second appointment, the dentures will be fixed in place and adjusted to ensure comfort. You can then walk out with a brilliant smile.

Please note that the specific details of your dentures process will depend on the type of dentures and your goals. Different types of dentures involve different techniques and steps.
